Welcome!

#PowerTabRoom is an IRC channel located on DALnet. It is an extension of the Power Tab Archive's forum. This channel is set up for chatting about all things related to the Power Tab Editor, including tabs. If you do not know how to use IRC, there are a couple of easy ways to get started.

How-To

Chat Now!

On the menu to the right is a link to "Chat Now!" You will be able to chat from this website immediately.

DALnet

DALnet offers a JAVA based interface on their front page so that you may connect quickly and easily. On the right-hand column, under "Chat Now", enter a username, click "Go!", and type /join #PowerTabRoom.

Chatzilla (Preferable)

Another method would be to use the ChatZilla extension for Firefox. This is cross platform and free. Using Chatzilla is pretty straight-foward. Go to the extensions page and install Chatzilla. Once it is installed (you will need to restart Firefox), launch Chatzilla (Tools > Chatzilla), click on "dalnet" in the [info] line, and wait for it to connect; it may take a minute or two. Once connected, type /join #powertabroom and you're in!

mIrc

mIrc is a popular shareware IRC client amongst Windows users. It is a little more complicated than the above two methods, but it is highly configurable. It can also stay running in the background, minimzed to the system tray, so that when someone enters the chatroom you will hear a beep and be able to join in immediately. Very handy. First, you need to get mIrc. Once you get mIRC and go through the inital setup, type ALT+E (hold the ALT key while depressing the "E" key). You will see a list of servers. Find the DALnet folder and double-click it, expanding the list. Double-click Random server and wait for mIRC to connect. Once connected, type /join #powertabroom and you will be in the the chat room.

Other Clients

There are many other good IRC clients available. To use them involves pretty much the same steps. The two important things to remember are: connect to DALnet, the server(s) #powertabroom is located on, AND, type in /join #powertabroom.
