DALnet #Sibu Channel - Guides on Services Command
MemoServ
![]()
DEL
Command syntax:
/memoserv DEL <memo number>
/memoserv DEL ALL
Command description
The DEL command works in as much the same way as the
READ command. It will delete the selected memos from
the list. However, the deleted memos will have a status
"marked as deleted" until the user:
(a) quits the network;
In other words, the deleted memos will not
disappear until the user quits the current IRC
session.
(b) changes to different nick; or
(c) the PURGE command is used.
The user can choose to delete all the memos by using the
ALL switch. The ALL switch will mark all memos as deleted
and will PURGE them at the same time.
Command examples
1) If the user has 8 memos in the list and he/she wishes
to delete the 5th memo, he/she would type the
following command:
/memoserv DEL 5
2) If the user wishes to delete the more than one memo
at one time, for example, deleting memos Nos. 3,7,8
with just one line command, he/she would type the
following command:
/memoserv DEL 3,7,8
Note: This command will mark the selected memos as
"deleted" but not purged until the users stop
using current nick or the PURGE command is
used.
3) If the user wishes to delete and PURGE all the memos
at the same time, he/she would type the following
command:
/memoserv DEL ALL
Note: This command will delete and PURGE everything
and users cannot access purged memos.
Special requirements
The user must be using the registered nick at the time
he/she uses the command and that only memos for the
current nick can be deleted.
Comments
The ALL switch should be used with caution since it will
delete and purge memos at the same time. Purged
memos cannot be undeleted nor retrieved.
The user is only able to manage listed memos. Since
only the first 20 memos are listed out of a maximum of
50 memos, the user will have to delete some of the
viewed memos in order to access memos that are not
listed.
